ILCA Vang Twisted Fiddle Block, the ‘Twiddle’, with 45 Degree Twist to Reduce Friction.

Expanding on the popular Zircon block range that has become a favorite among ILCA sailors for control systems, the new Harken twisted fiddle, know as the ‘twiddle’ block, is the ideal middle block in an ILCA vang system. Its slim shape slides easily among the purchase system, remaining upright while traditional block blocks tip, twist, or tangle. The 45 degree twist helps keep the system aligned and reduces friction. This is a small detail, but an important one in a class where every detail matters. Build around Harken’s Zircon technology, which offers ceramic ball bearings mounted inside caged races. The cages keep these bearings apart so they don’t bunch up, touch, and stop each other. The result is a very free-running block with less energy lost to friction. Zircon bearings are more than 700% stronger in compression than stainless bearings of the same size.
