I have read the previous review and found it to be unusual. I ALWAYS use this hook - I have never had it slip off the outhaul when using the hook in the downwards direction as explained in our outhaul video. However, perhaps the previous user had it attached to more than the sail?

great idea, but as soon as you put any pulling pressure through the block attached to the clew hook, the thing just twists and comes out of clew. especially bad when windy and sail flaps around..happened when i was on on water and i really struggled to get it back in without help from rescue boat. tip says to point tail down and to transom but it doesnt stay there and easily pops out...and i know i am not the only one who has trouble with it... now discarded and using shackle instead!
